Senior Mobile Engineer

Summary

Sonopia is recruiting a team of mobile software engineers who are responsible for requirements analysis, design prototyping and development of Sonopia's mobile clients. The Senior Mobile Engineer will form a core part of the implementation team. A telecoms grade server developed by a peer team will support the mobile clients.

The mobile client will be run on a wide variety of platforms on a countrywide network.

Compulsory skills:

  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • At least 3 years of experience in building C++ application
  • C++ OOP programming knowledge
  • Use of formal design patterns

Responsibilities

Sonopia is recruiting a team of mobile software engineers who are responsible for requirements analysis, design prototyping and development of Sonopia's mobile clients. The Senior Mobile Engineer will form a core part of the implementation team. A telecoms grade server developed by a peer team will support the mobile clients.

The client will interface to Sonopia's server offering using XML web services or via XML-RPC protocol.

The Senior Mobile Engineer will be expected to provide training to other team members and mentoring to junior team members. He or she will also be expected to contribute to Sonopia's process and standards.

The Senior Mobile Engineer must be keen to learn new skills.

System Operator

Summary

Do you want to be part of the team that redefines how people use their mobile phones? Sonopia is recruiting a world class team in Kyiv, Ukraine and needs an experienced Systems Operator to build and operate a large scale data center supporting both Web and Mobile users.

Sonopia is recruiting a Systems Operator with experience in running complex Linux based environments. This is a hands-on role operating a clustered Linux environment and redundant Web Servers along with a highly scalable clustered virtual database running across mixed RDBMS technologies. Understanding of these core technologies will be important.

The production environment will serve customers worldwide performing hundreds of thousands of operations per minute and the operations flows will be spread across a number of partner systems so the ability to work with external technical partners is very important.

Main requirements:

  • Student of 3-6th years of study or completed university degree
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Experience in systems operations and monitoring of Networks and Linux systems from 1 year
  • Basic experience in Linux shell scripting (0.5 year+)
  • Ability to work at least 36 hours a week on a flexible shift-based schedule (weekends, night and morning shifts inclusive)

Responsibilities

The Systems Operator will be responsible for the hands on management of the production systems, fault resolution, and some root cause analysis. They will be part of the team that builds a world-class systems infrastructure from the ground up.

They will manage the initial validation stage systems while helping to build the full production environment in parallel, so they must handle multiple tasks very well.

Web Production Operator

In accordance with Ukrainian legislation, employment agreement with the Web Production Operator (WPO below) made in the same manner as with any other "specialist" as it is set forth in Qualification Requirements Guide of 1998 year.

Skills and Position Requirements:

  • 0.5 year or more of job experience in IT, Internet Advertisement, or Content Managing or similar area
  • Problem solver with a positive attitude and ability to interact with the team (mandatory)
  • Persistence, personal responsibility and excellent time and task management (mandatory)
  • Intermediate and above level of spoken and written English, technical reading/writing (mandatory)
  • Ability to learn and work with minimal formal management (desirable)
  • Software producing/operating industry strong background (desirable)
  • Proven knowledge of Sales and Marketing Concepts (desirable)
  • Critical style of thinking and math abilities
  • Western corporate style

Responsibilities

By completion of the activity stated before WPO Intern will get a regular Sonopia employee's position and successful trainees will be promoted to WPO positions, and join the wider WPO team operating, practicing and evaluate Sonopia's software system. Detailed WPO duties and responsibilities will consist of:

  • Running 'Sonopia' mobile operators on the mobile system including content generation, marketing programs and general subscriber acquisition
  • Operating Sonopia system as advanced user
  • Share operational methods and insights with the rest of the company
  • Analyzing and documenting operation results
  • Documenting problems that fail to meet requirements and user expectations
  • Work with system updates and releases documentation (release notes, projects scope documents, defect reports)
  • Documenting Sonopia usage to inform future system updates
